About The Department
Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University The Physics Department, which was founded in 2008 under the Faculty of Science and Literature, started learning by taking its first students in 2008-2009 academic year. The department has 2 faculty members and 2 research assistants. The main aim of the department is to contribute to the science of physics at national and especially international level. In this department, it is aimed to educate physicists who have gained scientific thinking ability and have the necessary equipments to solve the problems they may encounter in their professional lives, scientists and technologists who have basic knowledge, qualifications that can adapt themselves to science and technology and can make their own contributions when necessary and scientist candidates for the future. The necessary importance is given to the training of the human power necessary to realize this aim. The fact that the history of the department is short, and the number of faculty members is limited to the departments and considering the scientific policy of the country, master’s degree education can be provided only in certain departments. In order to make the undergraduate students more effective in the education, besides the theoretical subjects, great emphasis is given to the studies aimed at reinforcing them and the laboratory studies and student projects. Graduates of this department can provide useful and productive services in educational institutions in the research and development laboratories of various institutions and organizations, in modern analysis and quality control laboratories, in case of winning the necessary training formation, according to their personal tendencies and abilities.
The areas of work that the graduates who have earned the title of "Physicist" by completing the four-year undergraduate education can enter:
- May be employed as physics teachers in schools subordinate to Ministary of Education or in private schools and as research assistants or specialists in universities.
- Since physics is the essence of various engineering branches, graduates from this department can find work in various areas of the industry and can provide useful services in research and development laboratories.
- In institutions such as Mineral Research and Exploration Institute, Institute of Machine and Chemistry, State Hydraulic Works, Turkey Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Atomic Energy Authority, the State Institute of Statistics, Telecom, Tedaş, the Nuclear Research Center there is a need for the service of physicians as researchers.
